About Joe

Joe (E-RYT500) has always found refuge in the pursuit of excellence in a variety of sports and outdoor activities, therefore it was natural for him to turn to yoga to find balance. In the early 90’s after a decade-long career in whitewater kayaking, Joe experienced muscular imbalances which consequently is the cause of discomfort and chronic pain. Not only did yoga launch Joe on a deep journey on the path of healing, it also deepen his understanding of how the body craves balance to be pain-free. Moreover, yoga transported Joe into a dedicated meditation and pranayama practice, and the pursuit of the study of yogic texts and ancient mythologies.

Joe feels gratitude for all teachers who are some of the leading yogic philosophical scholars in the USA. He has even had the privilege of teaching workshops with other recognized scholars, such as William Mahony,  among otBy 2006 Joe’s interest in yoga became his primary passion. He decided it was time to launch a full-time teaching career as you left the tech world -- he has never looked back! From 2007 to 2013, Joe was a Certified Anusara® Yoga instructor. Joe applies his understanding of how the breath, meditation, and balanced musculature work together to sustain a healthy mind  and body, infusing his classes with these elements. Joe has been using imagery and other neurological techniques to connect the mind and body through yoga in his classes. Joe weaves into every class a theme with either a story or a life-affirming philosophy connected to an over-arching alignment principle found in the actions of the poses. His students leave his class feeling uplifted and equipped with insights into their own practices in order to develop a thriving home practice.

In the last years, Joe has immersed himself in the works of Eckhart Tolle and has drawn strong parallels to the perennial truths found in the ancient yogic texts. He teaches once a year an advanced training on this subject. Additionally, as a team instructor at Asheville Yoga Center’s teacher training programs, Joe enjoys teaching and encouraging aspiring teachers launch their own careers.

Importantly, Joe believes in the body’s healing powers and the need for society to heal on a global scale. Recently, Joe has begun collaborating with the School of Wholeness and Enlightenment (SoWe).
